THE NEW ALBUM
LET THE SUN RISE
Let the Sun Rise is the second EP release from War Eyes, a Canadian indie rock band formed in Victoria, BC in 2024. Following the explosive energy of their first EP No Faces No Names (Feb 2025), the band returns with a sound that’s more urgent, emotional, and mature. Set for release on August 21st, 2025, the album channels 50 years of punk, hard rock, and grunge into something both nostalgic and unmistakably their own.
This is a record built on confrontation — with heartbreak, with loss, with the creeping rise of fascism, and with the shadows that live within us. From its blistering guitars and rock and roll drumming to its cathartic vocals, Let the Sun Rise burns with intensity. The title itself is a quiet manifesto: a recognition that light doesn’t come easily — or at all — until we’ve faced the darkness head-on. These songs don’t flinch. They ache, they fight, they dig deep. War Eyes reminds us that the essential quality of rock and roll music is its commitment to defiance and a refusal to go quietly.
The band — Ryan Foster (Vocals/Guitar), Steve Reynolds (Drums), Nick Honour (Guitar), and Kyle O'Shea (Bass) — once again teamed up with Jordan Koop at The Noise Floor Recording Studio on Gabriola Island, BC. Koop’s analog-forward, live-off-the-floor recording style was the perfect match for War Eyes’ commitment to preserving the raw, unfiltered power of their live shows. Each track pulses with the same fire that lights up their gigs — sweaty, immediate, and alive.
Let the Sun Rise marks a powerful step forward for War Eyes — a band still early in their journey, but already forging a sound that is both fiercely personal and deeply resonant. This is rock and roll with a heartbeat, beating loud against apathy, irony, and nihilism, daring it to move aside for something new.
